Originally from China, Haoran Wang is a Switzerland-based clarinetist whose career spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and teaching. In 2026, he was appointed clarinetist with the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra (TOBS). He graduated from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, where he studied with Pascal Moraguès and Florent Héau, and later specialized in bass clarinet at the Bern University of the Arts under Ernesto Molinari.

A prizewinner of several international competitions, he notably received the Second Prize at the Saverio Mercadante International Clarinet Competition and has earned distinctions at various European competitions. His artistic development has also been enriched through guidance from renowned clarinetists including Michel Arrignon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Romain Guyot, Yehuda Gilad, Nuno Pinto, François Benda, among others.

Highly active in the orchestral world, Haoran Wang regularly collaborates with leading European ensembles. He has performed with the Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne, Opéra de Lausanne, Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comté, Geneva Camerata, the Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, where he appeared as guest principal clarinet.

Alongside his orchestral career, he maintains an active chamber music profile, performing regularly throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. He has shared the stage with artists such as Benedict Klöckner, Louis Schwizgebel, Alexandra Tirsu, Romain Guyot, and members of the Rolston String Quartet. As co-founder of the wind quintet Lemanic Winds, he has appeared at numerous festivals including Chamber Music Northwest, the RTS Schubertiades, Variations Musicales de Tannay, Ars Musica, Lavaux Classic, and the Rencontres Musicales de Coppet.

Committed to promoting Swiss musical heritage, he co-founded the Paul Juon Music Festival in 2026 together with cellist Benedict Klöckner and serves as its executive director. Through this initiative, he works to rediscover and promote the music of Paul Juon, bringing renewed attention to a composer whose work remains largely overlooked on today’s international concert stages.

An internationally oriented musician, Haoran Wang is also actively involved in fostering cultural exchanges between Europe and Asia. He regularly serves as coordinator and artistic advisor for Sino-European collaborations, facilitating partnerships between artists, institutions, and festivals on both continents. In this capacity, he notably served as Artistic Advisor to the Taishan Music Festival in China. His artistic journey has led him to perform recitals and chamber music concerts in numerous countries, including China, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Japan, and the United States, shaping a broad and intercultural artistic perspective.

Passionate about musical transmission, he regularly gives masterclasses in China and currently teaches clarinet at the Institut Le Rosey.
